My daughter

If i have a daughter someday, her name will be Esfir. Derived from Yesfir, meaning Star, also Esther; Queen, Heroine, a beautiful jewess. Esfir Shub, Russian Documentary Filmmaker. A woman who made true stories, who showed the decadence and the poverty side by side in the 1920’s in Russia.  The only half i know about, is my Russian half. My father’s half. My mother’s half may remain an unanswered question. The only other thing i know besides knowing i should make films, is that i should be someone’s mother.  I should be Esfir’s mother; Sharon, of the fertile plains of ancient Palestine, the Princess, the Heroine, and the Documentary filmmaker.
